Saint Paul Lutheran Church (LC-MS) was founded in 1868 for a purpose. We witness that in Christ, our sins are forgiven. Jesus Christ’s death redeemed us from sin, death and the devil. When His living word is faithfully proclaimed, and given through Baptism and the Lord’s Supper, the Holy Spirit works faith so that we receive eternal life. Through our Lord’s gracious gifts the church rejoices in life together as Christ’s body, sharing God’s love in mercy and witness. Our Lord comes to us in Divine Service, blessing His repentant, hungry people with His word and sacraments. Fed by our Lord, we are strengthened in faith toward God and love for one another.
We believe in the Triune God, one God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
We believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth. We believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From thence he will come to judge the living and the dead. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting (The Apostles Creed).
We believe in the Law and the Gospel.
The Law reveals we are condemned sinners before a righteous God (Romans 3:9-20). Therefore we confess our sins to God. The Gospel bestows God’s unmerited favor for sinners. Through Jesus Christ our Savior, all sins are forgiven and we are given peace with God (Romans 3:21-26).
We believe in Salvation through Jesus Christ alone.
Through Jesus Christ’s sacrificial death on our behalf the Father declares us righteous. The Holy Spirit works faith in our hearts through hearing this good news so that we receive eternal life (John 3:14-18).
We believe in the Holy Scriptures.
The Bible is the inerrant Word of God. Through the prophets and apostles, inspired by the Holy Spirit and chiefly through Jesus Christ Himself, Scripture declares the word that gives life (I Timothy 3:15-16).
We receive the Sacraments.
God’s Word promises that the gift of Baptism stirs up faith, forgives sin, and makes us new in Christ (Titus 3:5-6). Through the Lord’s Supper, Jesus Christ’s true body and blood in the bread and wine offer forgiveness and strengthen faith (Matthew 26:26-28). (Holy Communion is given to the baptized who have been admitted into altar fellowship.)
We receive the Divine Service.
God serves us through His Word and Sacraments. Worship is not what we do for God, but receiving His gifts by faith, resulting in thanksgiving expressed by serving our neighbor (Psalm 67).
Saint Paul Lutheran Church is in fellowship with The Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod (LC-MS). As evangelical Lutherans we confess that the Scriptures are truly God’s word. We also affirm that the Book of Concord, the historic confessions of our church, is true to Scripture.
